Matt Haney and the DSA Donate Toys to Children

On December 19th, a Holiday Party was being prepared at the Curran House TNDC for all the families and children that live there. The Curran House provides housing for low income families, homeless and has on-site access to supportive services, including an after school program and a social worker.  It was a special day there as Christmas is near.  Support Service Manager Shatae Jones was organizing the event with volunteers and donations.  Shatae wanted the day to be a spectacular day for the kids but they were short on toys.  Shatae wanted Christmas to be a special day for the thirty plus children, ranging from 2 years old to 17 years old, living at the Curran House.  Shatae reached out to District 6 Board of Supervisor Elect Matt Haney and asked for his help.

Toy Giveaway to Curran House

Matt Haney called Deputy Sheriffs’ Association President Ken Lomba told him about the families and children in need at the Tenderloin Curran House.  The DSA is proud to help it’s community and give back, said Ken Lomba.   As a matter of fact, several of our members lived in low income housing when they were children and they were recipients of donated toys.  They developed rewarding careers at the Sheriff’s Department that has allowed them to give back through public service.

The Deputy Sheriffs’ Association and Matt Haney were glad to answer the call to participate in this event.  It was a perfect team to bring Christmas Joy to families in need.  Matt Haney, DSA President Ken Lomba and DSA Sgt. at Arms Glen Webster arrived at the Curran House with a truck load of Toys for the children and gift cards for the families so they can buy gifts or items they need for their family.

We would like to thank Board of Supervisor Elect Matt Haney for reaching out to the San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs’ Association.  Matt has demonstrated great first steps working with the SFDSA on a shared commitment to improving lives of those families we both proudly serve.

Wishing you all a Happy Holiday Season from the San Francisco Deputy Sheriffs’ Association!
